Get to know the top 10

It's Time to meet that fantastic ladies behind the top 10 designs.  Let's all say hi to the creative and inspiring contestants!
(in no particular order)

Meet Andrea:

Hi! I'm Andrea from TheTrainToCrazy.com. Considering all the comments about the title of my blog, I don't think I'm the only one on that train! If you're on it with me then I'll wave when I see you! I'm a wife to my wonderful husband and a mom to 4 little ones ages 5 and under. Even if I am on that train, I see myself as a fairly laid back person. My life may be crazy making but I try to enjoy the little moments.

I love sewing, you'll find me sharing garment sewing projects on my blog.. I like to design my own patterns but I am not a stranger to commercial patterns. I host a link party every Thursday called Make It Wear it. Stop on by and link up anything you've made that can be worn. I love seeing what others are creating! I can't wait to see all the creations on Project Toddler Runway!

Meet Susan:

Hi!  I'm Susan and I blog at Living with Punks.  I'm the mom to 3 sweet punks and wife of the biggest punk of them all!  I love to create and basically obsess about it in the hours I'm awake, and sometimes when I'm asleep....well, maybe sometimes I don't sleep! My main creative outlet is sewing. On my blog, I post tutorials on anything from little girl dresses and aprons, to my latest obsession...scarves for the whole family!  I do enjoy cooking too, so I periodically post recipes that hubby and I agree is good enough (he's a self-taught gourmet chef, so he's pretty picky). I am also a regular contributor of crafty DIY tutorials to the parenting website, Momtastic.

My mom and grandma were both expert dressmaker's and I have learned a bit here and there from them over the years.  I just busted out the sewing machine a few years ago after my daughter was born, and I haven't stopped.  I love to see how the obsession in my head actually comes out as a created object and love it being worn by the kiddos.  I am so excited to be here competing in PTR and look forward to all the challenges ahead!

Meet Jenn:

Hi, my name is Jenn (or Jennifer, Jenna, Jenny, J... I answer to anything within reason), and I am super excited to be participating in Project Toddler Runway.  This is my first blog competition, and believe me I am humbled both to be a competitor, and by the competition.  I am a complete blogger rookie since I just started blogging in September 2010.  My blog is called A Jennuine Life, and is a play on my name and a concept I borrowed from my sister-in-law Jean (Jeanious - and she is!).
I've been crafting as long as I can remember.  I made doll's clothes while staying with my Grandma on her antique Singer.  My mom taught me how to cross-stitch when I was little, and we sewed a whole bedding ensemble for my cabbage patch doll Krissy Lynn.  Later Mom taught me how to crochet (which I've since forgotten and need to re-learn), and let me go with her to her monthly craft group, and occasionally sit in on her weekly stitch gathering.  When I was in junior high home economics, I always finished my projects quickly and then would help my friends finish theirs.  I think I made like six of those felt pillows shaped like food - you know the ones!  As an adult, I learned how to quilt, and tried to start my own craft group where a friend taught me how to knit - thanks Martine!  During my pregnancy, my nesting instinct took the form of sewing and knitting, and I made burp cloths out of cloth diapers, quilts for other expecting friends, and knitted like a woman posessed.  After my daughter Arden was born, I made my husband and my brother-in-law "man slings" after Dave kept poaching my pink paisley one.

Meet Amy:
I'm Amy and I blog over at Nap Time Crafters
My days are spent taking care of my darling little miss
and when she finally decides to take a nap I bust out the craft supplies!

I love crafts of every kind, but my favorite is making clothes for her. I made my first outfit for her over the summer and I've been an addict ever since! My dad was getting a bit tired of baby clothes tutorials on the family blog, so Nap Time Crafters was born.
I hope you'll stop by and say hello!

Meet April:
Hi!  I'm April from  Wildflowers & WhimsyI am so excited to be part of PTR!  I love a challenge...I tend to work better under pressure and I absolutely cannot wait to see what everyone comes up with.

So, a little bit about me....I am a wife and mommy to two sweet little boys and one very outspoken little girl...all 4 years  and under.  I plan on homeschooling, but since they aren't of school age yet, I spend a lot of time sewing and crafting, and they spend a lot of time, ehem, "helping".   Which basically means they pulled the thread out of my sewing maching when I wasn't looking or like the time I left my scissors out by accident and Sophie cut up part of a dress I was working on...seriously, I was out of the room for two minutes!  How do they get into these things so quickly?!?
My husband travels a lot for work which means it's typically just me and three young kids....so crafts and blogging have become the hobby that keeps me sane.

My blog is fairly new, and so far, I have mostly posted about crafts, but this year, I am starting a linky party called Sew Crafty Saturday and I will be doing a post called Window Shoppin' Wednesday where I pick one of my favorite etsy shops each week and do a spotlight on it...this is free so if any of you have an etsy shop you would like me to feature be sure to email me so I can check it out!  I would also like to start posting free sewing patterns  because eventually when my kids are older I would like to maybe make and sell my own patterns and I figure it would be good practice and a nice way to get input on what people want out of patterns...or who knows maybe by then I'll live at the beach and I'll just keep doing it for free because I am too busy hanging out on the beach to run a business... : )  that would be pretty nice...

Meet Lacey:

Hi there, I’m Lacey!
I have a long history of loving all things related to fashion and design but my sewing adventure is a fairly recent development in the story. After marrying one amazing guy and moving from Florida to a place with cold (understatement) winters I was stir crazy and looking for a creative outlet …which became sewing, which became year round, which became a slight addiction. Did I mention I love fabric?
I wake up every day to aforementioned hubby, Jay – my 18 month old little lady, Mckinley Zane – and Maggie the Supercat. Oh, and a nice hot Starbucks coffee whenever the stars align and both daycare drop off and the BUX line is timely.
When I’m not spending time with the fam, working at my 9-5, or sewing, I do a little blogging at Brickstory Lane

Meet Jessica:

Jessica
Running With Scissors
I'm married with one toddler son and a baby girl on the way.  Being a mom and wife is my life right now, but I like to fill the cracks with creative projects from sewing, painting, quilting, crafts, decor, to building furniture/ woodworking.  Most of my creativity is motivated by my being cheap... or thrifty is a better word.  The majority of the time I find making something is less expensive than buying it.  I love resurrecting junk into something better, or finding new ways to use things--like spray painting electrical conduit for a cheap curtain rod.  I'm excited to get a chance to work on creating and sewing clothing, as it's an area I'd like to be more comfortable.  My body has really weird proportions, which has been a motivator recently to sew some jackets with ridiculously long sleeves to cover my orangutan lurp arms.  I also love to eat, and if it was socially acceptable I'd only wear pajamas and never put on make up.

Meet Chelsea:

My name is Chelsea Perry and ideas are coming out my ears! I love to create, but I can't keep up with myself! I have an amazing husband who has given me courage to try and 3 beautiful girls who make me smile! It's from them that I get my inspiration....and all those wonderful blogs out there. Speaking of blogs, check out Creative Mommas(www.acreativemomma.blogspot.com) Like Shwin and Shwin, it's a blog that my sister and I share and has all things creative, with tutorials, and giveaways. I'm so excited to be a part of Project Toddler Runway and that I get to challenge myself, learn along the way, and to share.

Meet Shanna:

Hi there!  My name is Shanna, you can find me over at Celebrate the Madness!  Blogging is something I have thought about for a long time and finally decided to put one together, so be kind as it is a work in progress.  I am self taught, in 2001 I bought my first Brother sewing machine and it took me a week to figure out how to get it threaded, but I never gave up!  I now have two daughters and a husband who serves in the United States Coast Guard.  We get to move around the country (currently South Texas), and I would say that my sewing machine is something that gets packed in the car!  I hate using patterns, I cannot explain it, but I think it is something to do with the icky thin tissue paper and the fact that you can never fold them back up the way they come out of the envelope...My least favorite fashion trend ever would be stir-up pant with a very close second to the skinny jean/jegging. My favorite clothing to buy for myself would be shoes, all sorts of them :)  I am frequently seen wearing a boring mom of a toddler uniform of jeans and a simple tshirt, but I am secretly a high fashion diva...  I enjoy making one of a kind pieces for children and adults with an edge to them. I do not want to recreate something I can pick up at Target for $10.  My weapons of choice is currently a Singer Futura 250, and a Sharpie.  I hope to see ya'll over at Celebrate the Madness sometime!

Meet Bree:

I'm the Extra Ordinary Bree, mommy and wife by day and a big crafty mess by night.  I've got a boatload of boys Mikey 6, Eli 5, Jacob 4 & Isaac 4 months and one little girl, Olivia (almost 2).  I'm married to Mike, the boy who swept me off my feet before I turned 16 years old and still manages to make me swoon after almost 9 years of marriage.  I've been crafting for my kids for as long as I've had them.  First it started out as a way to get the things I wanted but couldn't afford.  I still find myself making things because I'm too much of a cheapskate to buy them but now, more often then not, I find myself crafting for the thrill of creating something new and exciting and completely original.

It is so much fun to get to know the ladies behind the designs! They are doing a fabulous job and I can't wait to share their projects from this week!

***As an update, Susan had to drop the competition. With to late of notice to bring back someone else we will be cutting one week out of the competition.**

2 Lovely Comments:

  1. Is there any way you can tell us the people that were cut. I know you cut the first 5 already. I would love to see their blogs and any tutorials they put up. Did you put that info somewhere? Maybe I missed it. Maybe somehow tell us who did each project and who was cut.
I'm loving all these creations. It gives me such inspiration!
